Yamuna Body Rolling (YBR) is a proven effective weight bearing method using inflated specialist Yamuna balls of varying sizes to help release restrictions held within the body.

YBR was founded by Yamuna Zake, a respected Master Teacher who has dedicated her life to understanding and unravelling the intricacies of the human body and guiding others to create positive changes within their own.

YBR stimulates bone, releases fascia, lengthens muscles, and realigns the body. Working in the natural, and logical, direction of the muscle, from origin to insertion, it can help to improve posture, flexibility, increase range of motion, alleviate pain, and enhance overall well-being.

YBR teaches clients how to educate their bodies to work in a different way.  It creates awareness as to how they hold and carry themselves, learning which stress patterns no longer serve them, and how to change them. 

What you can expect in a YBR class

At the beginning of each session, Sharon asks “how’s your body?” to allow clients the opportunity to identify how they feel and raise any issues or concerns. During this time, Sharon observes and assesses how the client’s body is holding itself to see where it is tight and where compensations may be occurring, to decide which routines may be most beneficial at that moment in time.

Within a session Sharon uses a combination of hands-on work with mild traction, alongside guiding clients through intelligent sequences which have been designed to systematically decompress and unwind the whole body.  Focused breathwork plays an important role in YBR. When bearing weight on the ball Sharon guides clients to direct their breath to where they may feel tightness or restriction and breathe into the area. This allows the muscles to relax and release.

Class Prices

The Body Studio runs classes Monday – Thursday, and Friday mornings.  Each session is 75 minutes.

A single session - £55.00.

A block of 5 sessions - £261.25 (£52.25 each)

A block of 10 sessions - £495.00 (£49.50 each)

The body is not a collection of parts, it is a whole, and everything within it is inextricably linked through connective tissue known as fascia. Nothing works in isolation; therefore, we always view the body as a whole. After each sequence, Sharon will assess the effects of a routine before deciding where to work next in the body. As one area releases, it may highlight another area of restriction.

In addition to improving the structure, alignment, and function of the body it also stimulates and regulates the central nervous system creating calm and balance.  It creates improved breath expansion of the lungs, helps reduce scar tissue from surgery for faster healing and aids Lymphatic drainage.  Clients leave the studio feeling taller, softer and easier within their body and more relaxed.

We hold every past physical and emotional trauma within our body from birth.  To release held stress and tension that may have taken years to build up to this point, takes time. One will feel and see a difference after one session, but it may take a course of sessions to change patterns, re-educate the body that it can work in a different way, and to create lasting changes. 

YBR uses simple tools to create powerful results. The smaller balls ‘go deep’ for more detailed work, and the larger balls are used to release major muscle groups, creating greater length, increased flexibility, and range of motion.

To put the client further at their ease the light, music and temperature are adjusted to suit their preferences.

YBR also works to release toxicity from past emotional trauma which may be being held within the body, allowing healing of both body and mind.
