Hello, I’m Sharon

I’m a dedicated Pilates instructor and Yamuna practitioner. I have a passion for movement and wellbeing, and have been practicing Pilates since 2000, and Yamuna Body Rolling and Yamuna Face Ball since 2014.

Pilates was a revelation and it felt so empowering!

I was first introduced to Pilates on the recommendation of my Osteopath, who had been treating me for some years for muscle tightness and imbalance within my body due to debilitating vertigo from a combination of a viral ear infection and a childhood neck injury.

Despite the Osteopath’s best efforts to release the tension in my neck during our regular sessions, the relief was short-lived as the muscle tightness returned soon after each treatment, meaning the imbalance continued.

Pilates was a revelation and it felt so empowering! With consistent and regular practice Pilates enabled me to strengthen from within, rebalance my muscles and control my breath work. It gave me confidence in the knowledge that I was strong, and my body would support me despite the vertigo.

After a broad career in PR and design I began my Comprehensive Pilates training in 2014, at Thurloe Street Pilates in South Kensington. During which time I trained under Kelly-Lynne Goulon, a second-generation Pilates Teacher, and other wonderful, inspiring teachers working at the studio.

I feel very fortunate that it was during this time I was introduced to the wonderful work of Yamuna. In working with and seeing the profound results of Yamuna Body Rolling (YBR) and Yamuna Face Ball (YFB) on clients in the studio, I took the earliest opportunity to train directly under Yamuna Zake, the founder of the Yamuna brand.

Having gained a deep understanding and extensive knowledge of the body, how it works, and the power of mindful movement, I graduated with the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and qualified as a Yamuna Practitioner in Yamuna Body Rolling and Yamuna Face Ball in 2016. To date I continue to be the only Yamuna Practitioner in East Anglia.

Opening my studio in 2017

Driven by the passion for Pilates and Yamuna and wishing to share the life changing practices and benefits of both methods which I had personally benefited from, I opened my own studio in January 2017 with the core aim to help others overcome their own physical challenges and achieve their movement goals.

I have a thirst for improving my knowledge and continue to develop and deepen my education and training through regular workshops and trainings.

“Regular visits to The Body Studio, initially for Body Rolling, means I am finally free from the knee and lower back pain of recent years, and my overall fitness and strength has improved dramatically since embarking on weekly Pilates classes with Sharon.”
